The Ferihegy Airport Budapest (which is being renamed as "Liszt Ferenc" Airport Budapest) is about 20 km far from the city centre. Usually Terminal 2A serves the national company (MALÉV Hungarian Airlines), and Terminal 2B serves most of the other international flight operators. Please pay attention to the fact that Terminal 1 is about 10 km far from Terminal 2A and 2B. Railway trains arrive to Terminal 1.

Airport Minibus Service
Budapest Airport has a special service called Airport Minibus Service. It works like a taxi, the only difference is that on its way to the airport it collects more passengers who stay in the same area of the city. Also going from the airport it takes home everybody who wants to go to the same neighbourhood. That is why it is a bit slower than a taxi. It costs about 2,990 HUF (about 10-12 EURO) per person (depending on the zone of the town, please refer to http://www.airportshuttle.hu/en). If you buy your ticket at the Minibus counter at the Airport with the return ticket as well, then it is cheaper a little bit (4,990 HUF, again depending on the zone). But of course you should not lose your ticket during your stay. This is a reliable way to go to your hotel. From your hotel order the Minibus service (Telephone: +361-296-8555, +361-999-8555) one day before your departure. Airport minibus works almost 24 hours a day (from 5 o'clock in the early morning until 1 o'clock in the late night) and take you like a taxi to the place of your destination and will bring you back to airport when you need it. (http://www.bud.hu/english/transport).

From Airport:
After passport control and picking up your luggage - find the AIRPORT MINIBUS counter;
There you go - tell to service person the address of your destination: the name of your hotel;
Please have enough Hungarian Forints to buy your ticket as they handle only Hungarian Forints (at the airport you will find bank offices where money can be changed, or booth where you can use your credit cards to withdraw money);
(the order for your return flight must be done 24 hours before at the reception desk of your hotel).
Wait for the call of your destination name (your hotel) from the driver, and then follow the driver to minibus. Sometimes they announce the name of the Hotel not clearly and not aloud enough to hear it well. So pay attention to the drivers reading from a paper the destinations.
It will take you to your hotel.
By public transportation
From the Airport take the so called "Reptér bus" number 200E (http://www.bkv.hu/bus/200e.html) which can be found right in front of the arrival lobby at the airport, to the end station (called "Kőbánya-Kispest"). This "Kőbánya-Kispest" station is the metro terminal station as well. From the metro terminal station Kőbánya-Kispest take the metro to Deák tér (10 stops). This is a big metro station collecting all three lines of Budapest.
If you would like to go to the Buda side of the City, you can change the metro line and go to direction of the terminal station (called "Déli pályaudvar") of the other metro line. You can leave the metro line at the terminal station of "Déli pályaudvar" as your Hotel might be near to it. The whole ride will take about 1.5 - 2 hour.
Tickets are sold from automats (also at the airport) or at every bigger stations and each METRO stations. Please note that by changing metro lines you need to validate a new ticket, or use a so called "transfer ticket" (490 HUF). Three single tickets cost about 3 x 320 HUF (4-5 EUR). Or you can buy a seven-day travel card at once for 4600 HUF (about 17 EUR) and then you can use it for unlimited transport during the whole week. For more information on the prices please visit the website of the Budapest Transport Limited (BKV) (http://www.bkv.hu/en/prices/prices). For a two weeks stay a 14-day pass is suggested http://www.bkv.hu/en/14_day_and_monthly_passes for the price of 6500 HUF (about 25 EUR) for unlimited use. Please bring with you a personal photo (passport size). 1 EUR is about 270 HUF; please check the rate at http://www.xe.com/
By Taxi
Taxis are in front of the arrival lobby at the airport. In Hungary there are various taxi companies, and all of them work with different fares. The "Zona taxi" at the airport is also a reliable way of transport between the airport and your Hotel with reasonable rates (http://www.zonataxi.eu). A general tariff from the airport to the Hotel should cost you about 3600 - 5800 HUF (about 16 - 27 EUR). From the Hotel to the airport they give special discount, as their rate is 3600 - 4400 HUF. Or you can call the "Főtaxi" which is also a very reliable taxi firm (http://www.fotaxi.hu/) on the following numbers:
(+36 1) 2 222 222 - ordinary phone number
(+36 20) 9 222 222 - mobile phone number
(+36 30) 2 222 222 - mobile phone number
(+36 70) 2 222 222 - mobile phone number
Please note the white table near the taxi line with the exact fares (km/Ft). Do not accept higher charges. Going to the Hotel it takes about 40-60 minutes in normal traffic situations. The tariff charged by the Főtaxi from the Airport to anywhere in the Buda side of Budapest is about 5100 - 5700 HUF.
By train
Passengers can easily reach the Airport Terminal 1 from the Western Railway Station in Budapest. Please pay attention to the fact that Airport Terminal 1 is about 10 km far from the Airport Terminal 2A and 2B. On weekdays and at weekends quite a few trains ease the travelling from the city centre to the airport within less than half an hour for about 300 HUF. There are 60 trains on weekdays and 45 at weekends from the airport to the city centre. (http://www.bud.hu/english/transport)
Arriving travellers can buy their tickets at Tourinform at Airport Terminal 1 from 08.00 to 22.00 or at platform B at the railway station from the ticket vending machine.
The two platforms of the railway station are connected to the Airport Terminal 1 with a pedestrian footbridge equipped with lifts above the clearway. A short pedestrian path of just 200 meters takes the passengers from the terminal to the railway station. Travellers who would like to get to Terminal 2A or 2B can travel by bus 200E from there.
You can find the train schedule (http://www.mav-start.hu/english/offer.php?mid=14a70790363c41) at the website of the Hungarian railway company.
Air travellers can easily access Airport Terminal 1 by train, since the Terminal's new railway station opened its gates. All the trains running on the Budapest-Cegléd-Szolnok line stop at the station (Choose Budapest Nyugati Railway Station). Passengers are awaited by two platforms complete with passenger lifts to aid disabled users. Tickets to Airport Terminal 1 may be purchased at any railway ticket office or ticket vending machine. Should you arrive outside of the opening hours, and there's no vending machine at your station, you still don't need to worry: during this time you can buy your ticket on the train. It is useful to know that a journey from the Nyugati railway station to Airport Terminal 1 takes about 20 minutes. Travellers who would like to get to Terminal 2A or 2B can travel by bus 200E from there (http://www.mav-start.hu/english/index.php).
