The annual meeting of the Czech, Hungarian, Slovak and Slovenian nuclear authorities took place in Portoroz, Slovenia, on 13-14 May 2025, with the participation of delegations from the Finnish and Polish partner authorities. In 2003 the four authorities with similar-sized nuclear programmes decided to institutionalise their meetings to regularly share regulatory oversight experiences and exchange views on key international and national issues related to the use of nuclear energy. The Hungarian delegation was led by Andrea Beatrix Kádár, President of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority.

The training of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors took place in Hungary between 5-9 May 2025, organized by the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA). Hungary is an active supporter of the IAEA nuclear safeguards system in three main areas: support for IAEA training activities, development of new equipment and technologies as well as testing of new instruments and equipment.

The 149th meeting of the Steering Committee of the OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) was held on 15 - 16 April 2025, in Paris, with the participation of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority. This year's first meeting focused on the evolution of the NEA's ongoing scientific projects, including the five-year program launched in April 2024 to investigate the thermophysical properties (such as density, surface tension and viscosity) of thorium solutions, that influence the modelling and analysis of thorium solution stabilisation strategies in the event of a major reactor accident.

Hungary will host the Integrated Regulatory Review Service (IRRS) Mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in October 2025. During this mission, IAEA will assess the compliance of Hungary’s regulatory framework – overseeing the peaceful use of atomic energy – with IAEA Safety Standards. As part of the preparation, a meeting was held on 23-24 April 2025 at the headquarter of the Hungarian Atomic Energy Authority (HAEA). The meeting was attended by leaders of the IRRS mission team, and representatives of the IAEA, HAEA, Baranya County Government Office, National Centre for Public Health and Pharmacy and Ministry of Energy.

The Multinational Design Evaluation Programme (MDEP) organized the third VVER Working Group workshop with industry in Hungary on 8-9 April 2025. Participants at the Budapest event shared their experiences to date with the design, licensing and construction of VVER-1200 type reactors. The designers themselves answered the questions raised.
